Mill House Distillery approached us to help with the launch of their new product range, Kingtree Gin. The small batch distillery, with its roots in the East Yorkshire village of Cottingham, started in 2018 creating wonderful gins using premium ingredients from around the world. Our work to support the launch of the new brand extended beyond the creation of an identity and into the development of bottle and packaging designs and then on to digital marketing with social media and an e-commerce website.
Initially launched at local markets and trade shows, an audience of local gin enthusiasts quickly grew as recognition of the brand developed. Listings in local shops soon became placements in retailers and online stores much further afield. The e-commerce website added a further revenue stream which was buoyed by a rapidly increasing social media reach.
The brand we designed evoked feelings of nostalgia and hinted at the history of gin whilst also using bright colourways that were drawn from the bright copper Alembic still in which the product was distilled. The bottle designs were created to stand out effectively on shelves and in online marketplaces.
All of the activity we developed was underpinned by a comprehensive marketing strategy which included helping the business develop the concept of tasting experiences for online audiences, a gift range and trade show presence. As the product range developed to include new varieties a new iteration of the bottle labelling was designed to provide a coherent, colourful, premium look across five gin styles and fifteen skus.
Mill House expertly distil from its base in Cottingham, East Yorkshire. Kingtree is named after a grand house that once stood in the centre of the village. Mill House Distillery was founded in 2018 with a mission to create stunning premium gins.
